Art Work made from Love

I have been holding off on posting this...only because I didn't want to spoil the surprise...

My cousin Jesse just married his love, Celestina on September 11th, 2010. The ceremony was beautiful the bride even more...and the groom was the happiest I've ever seen him(and didn't look so bad himself)!
When Jesse and Celeste got engaged, they had their engagement photos taken...they are all amazing, but this one stood out to me, I can feel their love just by looking at them, looking into each others eyes...
When I was trying to figure out what the heck to get them for their wedding...I started browsing through their pics, to maybe get an idea...and it worked. I decided on a custom piece of art done by yours truly.

Here is the original photo...I just love it!
And here after tweeking it a bit with PICNIC.(great site by the way)

I printed out my tweeked version, then traced it onto contact paper.Broke out the ol trusty exacto knife and cut out everything that was black in the tweeked pic.
After making a little trip to Home Depot to pick up the right piece of wood, to do this project, I first cut the board to size, in this case I have to ship it so I chose 8x11. I adhered the contact paper to the wood.

Then spray painted the whole thing with black paint.
After the paint dried I peeled off the contact paper (almost the funnest part, if you know me...you know I love to pick) And voila! a customized piece of art...inspired purely from their love for each other, and my love for their awesome little family! She just received it in the mail...and loves it...Yay! I'm so happy!

I entered my little project over at the diyclub.com Check it out!

Paint your room- Jetson Style

OMG! Have you ever got stuck in a spot where you can't make a decision on a paint color? How many swatches did you have taped to your living room walls? How many squares of sample paint, do you have checkered around your kitchen? Yeah me too... Thank goodness for those $3 sample jars of paint huh?
I have a little dilemma. The majority of the interior walls in our house are brick, and love the aesthetic of them...so no I will not cover them with dry wall...you can't make me :) I want to redo our master bedroom...well I guess you wouldn't really call it a "redo" I always put off our room until last, and honestly it never and I mean never gets done.In fact here it is...

Blah huh....Great bones...just needs some lovin, well lots of lovin. I'm workin on it. I was browsing through Sherwin Williams paint colors, and a pop-up of their Color Visualizer caught my attention. Super Freakin Awesome! You can upload a pick of your room....outline what you want to paint, pick a color, and it paints it for you. No not really paints it, this isn't the Jetsons...lol It does a computer generation of your room with the color! I love this!
There is only 1 mmhhmm 1 small window in our room, so I want to make it bright, and airy. I want blueish-greens, whites and neutrals. I would really love to stain or paint the furniture darker, but I haven't talked the hubby into that yet....*trying* So I want blue, not baby blue, not crayon blue... something tranquil, so this is gonna take awhile. And BTW I used a Sherwin Williams color in my living room Note: I don't have a Sherwin Williams near me so I took the code over to my trusty paint girl at Home Depot and she copied it for me....and woo! do I love that color!
Heres some examples of the colors I'm considering..

7658 Gray Clouds

6248 Jubilee

6247 Krypton

And here is one just just to show you how much fun this program is!

6584 Cheery

Try it! You'll love it. Did I mention its free! Oh and any suggestions on which color you'd choose...feel free to drop me a comment!
Have a great day!

Decor Color for 2010 Turquois!

I like this! I am enamored by turquoise. From its oh so feminine hue to its Retro feel. I envision it in almost every room, not too much, just a slight punch...ahhhh and so refreshing. and that it is. I did a little research. Color therapy has always interested me, I looked in to it a bit and wow...very interesting...For instance Turquoise is:
Refreshing and Sophisticated:
A mix of blue and green, turquoise has a sweet feminine feel while the darker teal shades add lively sophistication.
Nature of Turquoise:
A blend of blue and green, shades of turquoise have the same calming effects of those colors.
Let me tell you Tiffany & Co. picked the prettiest color by far! Turquoise is very empowering.

I wanted to give you a peek at some super pretty demonstrations, on how the color is used in these gorgeous rooms...

Him is a big boy now!

My lil' baby Brody is getting bigger, and alot more adventurous. So its about time to grow up his room from nursery room to toddler room. Brodys Robot Room has been an ongoing project of mine for awhile now. It took awhile to get a design in mind...But after alot of inspirations, and his little hints of what hes into, I decided on "Retro Robots." His room isn't the biggest in the house, but It will work with alot of imagination, and daddys my hard work, it will be an amazing place for him to sleep(not often) play(always) and just hang out with his big brother(who is helping me with ideas).
Here are some Inspirations I stumbled upon while trying to decide...
