What a Pleasure!

What a wonderful suprise!
Last week I was given the Liebster Award by Jill over at I Know The Plans I Have For You. This really made my day. I'm sure there are others out there like myself that wander away from their blog every once in a awhile...and to be aknowledged by another super talented person, is a great feeling!
The word Liebster is a german word meaning "favorite" and the award is designed to recognize and promote blogs that have less than 200 followers, aaaaaaaand there's 5 rules that go along with it:
1 Thank the person that gave it to you. Thanks a Buch Jill!
2 Link back to their blog
3 Put the award in your blog
4 Present the award to 3-5 blogs with less than 200 followers
5 Leave a comment to let those blogs know that you've recognized their awesomeness!
Here are a few blogs I am enjoying right now, and I feel deserve this award...Check em out and show some love!

A Rocking Redo

A friend of mine's great grandfather carved this rocking chair. A beautiful family heirloom.
Just needed a little pick me up, and a little"manning-up"
Here it is before with its early 90's muave-tastic fabric.
I wanted to finda fabric a bit more masculine.
After searching through all of the fabric choices at Joanns, I finally stumbled accross a perfect print.
A pin stripe lighter brown(tan) with a dark brown pin-stripe...made of suiting material. I loved it, and luckily my friend did too.
And easy transformation with a great statement!

So fresh and so Clean Clean Dresser

Its been awhile...But just finished a gorgeous piece.
A chest on chest dresser for a beautiful little girl named Jade!
I'm going to be working on a few pieces for her new room...Can't wait for it all to come together!
Here she is all done up
Clean and crisp. The inspiration was an ad for some perfume...white with silver accents.
Here she is before
I Picked up this dresser off of craiglist, in semi ok condition.
Primed then painted a crisp bright white.
Kept the original hardware, but gave a few coats of chrome spray paint...very cool look! I'm liking it!

I'm going to be partying here...

Peek-a-boo Zebra Chest of Drawers

This little lady is my favorite piece to date. I picked her up at a yard sale, brought her home and made her gorgeous!
Here she is before...a little tattered.

Boo she was missing one of her original handles...so later you'll see how I made up for that.
To start for the stencil I used shelve paper to cover the drawer fronts, traced out a large zebra pattern, cut it out, and painted the whole dresser my go to white, let it dry then peeled away the stencil, and Ahhhh! The angels sang!
Here she is...
For her handles I took some super heavy duty wire strung some bling bling beads onto it, then thread them thgough the holes... I think they are amazing!

Well hello everyone!

I wanted to stop in for a bit to say hello, and to assure everyone that I'm still here...just a little sidetracked at the moment....I think this would explain it all...

So I guess you could say that I'm trying out the "width" of things :)

A Manly Modern Console

I have been super busy lately...sorry for being gone for so long. This piece was a request from a client, a modern piece for her brother as a house warming gift.
I started my hunt for a modern mid century piece of furniture that could be used as an entertainment console...
I found this at my local Salvation Army.
Looks a bit too much like a dresser...easy peasy fix!
Just sut out the bottom 4 drawers and cased it in with some backer board, and molding...
caulked all the edges...
and here you have the inside before the paint...
and after the paint...a rich espresso brown coats this manly little piece...
I'm very pleased with how it turned out...I'm sure it will look great in his bachelor pad also :)

A Reinvented Pantry

Alright, alright,no more taste tests...shes done! and shes awesome!
Cute right?!
So I had a sale Memorial weekend right....and I met a gal named April...cute little thing :) Her daughter fell in love with the jewelry box I revamped here So she got to take it home :)
While talking to her she told me she needed something for storage in her kitchen, like a pantry, but the catch was it couldn't be too big...I told her I would see what I could do, and get back to her.
I found this gun cabinet at a yard sale a week later and snatched it up...hense the hint here
I took it home and started taking it apart. and got rid of that horrible glass...(poor little deer)and replaced it with some backer board and chalkboard paint!
Added a bit of beadboard to the sides, and a sheet of plywood to the back to sturdy it up a bit(worked like a charm)
Then gave her a fresh coat of Martha Stewarts' "Bay Leaf" My idea of Green Apple! (Aprils Request)
On the inside I decide to add some adjustable shelves. We found a super cool tool at Home Depot that made this part super easy.
(see the little stopper on the bit...Aaaaawwwsome! it allowed us to drill only as deep as we needed.
Then I got some of those little tabs to go into the holes, to hold up the shelves. and cut the shelves from bullnosed mdf. and painted them white.
All together, and semi stocked...this little gal is going to be able to hold quite a bit of food!
Took a little road trip and delivered this beauty to April this morning, and needless to say I think she loved it! And it looks great with all of her decor!
SUCCESS!
I'm going to be doing some partying over here!
