Dinner Menu Chalkboard

I like this! I joined in on the chalkboard craze. I've been wanting to but just hadn't found the right spot...until this weekend. Recently I picked up this frame at a thrift store for 50 cents(still in awe that there is no "cent" sign on the keyboard) hmmm?...lol


Great shape...Perfect price...just needs some paint.

I picked the spot I wanted it to go, traced out the shape from the inside of the frame to be my chalkboard




I taped it off, and applied one coat, let dry for 1 hour, then applied the 2nd coat.While this was drying...


I sanded the frame a bit and painted it white. I normally would have hit it with some spray paint...but its too flippin cold out...ugh...


So some latex paint and a sponge roller will have to do...and do, it did.

I missed the pics in this section....oops. But all I did was let the paint dry. I sanded the edges a bit, then diluted some espresso stain I had, wiped on a light coat (focusing on the scuffs I had sanded) then wiped away the excess....


Just the look I was going for(on the frame)



Now the only thing I would have done differently, (and still might do it), get a piece of board, and paint it with the chalkboard paint... So I have a smoother surface to write on...Something to think about...Cuz I do plan on using this. When I am at work and 5pm rolls around, maybe I wont get a call from the hubby eghem eghem..."whats for dinner?" "look at the chalkboard, silly" Yeah I see that happening...I'll probably get two calls then...lol
