Vintage Aqua Dresser

Okay now this one is cool. My boys {including hubby} and I went yard sale hoppin one mornin before I had to go to work, and we came accross this dresser...I just thought it was super a cool shape and had the original casters....but the price they were asking was steep for my budget...so off to work I went

One my break I check my phone, and notice I got a picture message from the hubby, and whatta ya know...the second I left to go to work they left to go get the dresser for me...My boys love me. It was in really bad worn out condition...but considering how much we paid for it, I didn't want to do much work to it...so The aged, lived a long life look is what I was going for.
So I sanded, and sanded, and sanded...and had this oops paint in a super bright aqua color, gave her a coat...
Then dry brushed a dark chocolate brown all over her. {I've never dry brushed before...and I loved doing it, and even how it turned out! {toned the aqua down a bit...thank goodness}
Check out that detail...woo hoo!
Heres a shot of the side.
Here I decided to used the same old top...termite holes and all...just sanded the heck out of it, and stained it a "Dark Walnut"

I was not about to pay the gazillion dollars that Anthropologie was asking for their hardware{I needed 8 so that would add up super quick}...so I went to good ol trusty EBAY and found some ceramic "Oatmeal" knobs with brass, for, wait for it...wait for it...$1 each...I know right...but unfortunately it took fooooreeever for them to get here...sucky, but they are here...and oh they look great!

How hilarious is that? I can't believe our dressers are exactly the same, and we finished them in such a similar way! I love how you dry brushed the brown on it! Looks fabulous! :)

this is just gorgeous! I love the color with the dry brush over it- it looks so much richer than the first coat. You did a beautiful job. If you'd like, you can link this up to my Transformations and Treasures party I have going on now through Friday :)

Love this! I hope you don't mind that I included a photo and link in a post I did on stencils.(I'm new to blogging and unfamiliar with linking etiquette). Thanks for the inspiration!
